Why
Since 2015, Military Warriors Support Foundation’s Transporation4Heroes program has worked with companies across the country to award over 120 payment-free vehicles – 60 of those with Wells Fargo. In addition to providing vehicles, MWSF also provides mortgage-free homes and family and financial mentorship to the combat-wounded veterans and Gold Star Spouses they serve. Through this work we have enabled participants to pay off over $24 million in personal debt.

Richard Alegria was chosen to receive this life-changing gift after applying to MWSF’s Transporation4Heroes program through their website. The application has a rigorous vetting process to ensure that the veteran chosen to receive a vehicle is the best recipient to participate in the program. MWSF works with the veteran to ensure that the gift of a payment-free vehicle assists them in their successful transition out of the military and into their new civilian life.

Richard Alegria, a native Texan, was born in Texarkana and raised from Austin to El Paso. His stepfather and grandfather were both U.S. Army veterans and his grandfather was a prisoner of war & missing in action during World War II. Alegria, following in their footsteps, joined the Texas Army National Guard in 1990 and served as a 13B (13Bravo) Cannon Crewmember. He served with 3rd Battalion, 133rd Field Artillery Regiment located in El Paso, TX. His unit deployed to Iraq in 2005 and again in 2009. After over 20 years of service, Alegria was honorably discharged in September 2012. Former U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Richard A. Alegria received many awards throughout his time in the Army, including Combat Action Badge, Meritorious Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, and more for his service to our country. In his new civilian life, he works in the tech sector and is pursuing an MBA in strategic management. He also mentors other veterans at a local Texas golf program and currently resides in Lewisville, Texas with his family.

Join us at this event as we honor the service and sacrifice of this true American Hero.
