Military Warriors Support Foundation, in partnership with Truist, presented a mortgage-free home to a combat-wounded veteran on stage at the George Strait concert at Moody Center Grand Opening in Austin, TX.
April 29, 2022 – George Strait’s partnership with Military Warriors Support Foundation provided an opportunity to present a mortgage-free home to (fmr) U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant David Long on stage at George Strait’s packed concert on Friday night at the grand opening celebration of Moody Center in Austin, TX.
Military Warriors Support Foundation CEO, Retired Lt. General Leroy Sisco, presented Long with the ceremonial key to his mortgage-free home, donated by Truist, through Military Warriors Support Foundation’s Homes4WoundedHeroes program.
Recipient of the Purple Heart and Combat Action Ribbon, former U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant David Long joined the military in 2005. It was his lifelong dream to serve his country. During his time in the service, he deployed for two tours to Iraq and one tour to Afghanistan. During his first deployment to Iraq, he was wounded in action while supporting combat operations and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained. In 2009, after four years of service, he was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps.
“We’re proud of our longstanding partnership with Military Warriors Support Foundation and honored to provide a mortgage-free home to former U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Long,” said Mike Zarro, head of Mortgage Servicing at Truist. “Homeownership is a cornerstone of Truist’s purpose to inspire and build better lives and communities.
